Got a new key, it's nice

So I needed a new key for my Porsche 964 and heard about Formawerx. Decided to try them out. I ordered a basic one, not even custom. It came pretty fast, like in 5 days to reach Texas. The key feels really sturdy, way better than the old beat-up one I had. It fits the ignition perfectly, no jiggling or anything. Kinda pricey for a key, but it feels premium, you know? Definitely happy with it.

Good quality, slow custom work

I ordered a custom engraved Porsche 911 Ignition Key from Formawerx. The key itself is really well-made, the stainless steel feels solid and looks great. Engraving came out crisp too. However, the custom engraving took about 10 days longer than their estimated time on the website, which was a bit frustrating. I had to follow up with customer service once to check on the status. They were polite, but it still meant waiting longer for the key to ship. Overall, I'm happy with the product, but they could definitely improve on their custom order turnaround times.

Consistently excellent keys

This was my third time buying from Formawerx, and they were reliable as always. I got an Open 02 Key for my Defender, and just like the D-90 Key I bought last year, the quality is top-notch. The machining is precise, and it always works perfectly with the ignition. Shipping was quick this time, took 3 days to reach California, which was even faster than my last order. I keep coming back because their products are solid and they get it right every time. No complaints about the fit or finish.

Can you actually return these if you don't like it? Especially if you get it custom engraved?

B Betty Rodriguez 3 weeks ago
If it's custom engraved, probably not, afaik. Most places don't take back personalized stuff unless it's defective. Regular items, I think they have a standard return policy.

Yeah, custom is usually final sale everywhere. Make sure you're happy with the design before you pull the trigger.

Anyone know if they'll have a good Black Friday sale this year? Really want to snag a titanium key for my Defender.

A Anthony A. 1 month ago
They usually do something for Black Friday, but don't expect like, 50% off or anything crazy. Probably 15-20% max if it's like previous years.

I got 10% off for signing up for emails once. Their sales aren't super frequent or huge from what I've seen. Maybe a small discount.

Does anyone know if they offer a military discount? My buddy was asking, he's looking at a key for his G-wagon.

O Olivia F. 1 month ago
I don't remember seeing one on their site when I ordered. Might be worth emailing them directly to ask, though.

I haven't heard of a specific military discount. They mostly do the newsletter signup thing or bigger holiday promos.

Thinking about getting one of these for my 993, but do they actually cut the key for you? Or do I have to find a locksmith after it arrives?

J Jason N. 1 week ago
Nah, they send you a blank. You gotta take it to a locksmith to get it cut for your car. Kinda wish they did it, but it's not a huge deal.

Yeah, I had to take mine to a specialty place that does car keys. Regular hardware store locksmiths might not have the right machine. Just a heads up.

Are these keys really that much better than something from, say, Rennline? The prices are pretty up there.

S Sam Clark 5 days ago
Totally different league. Formawerx is more about that luxury feel and precision, like a piece of jewelry for your car. Rennline is good for performance stuff, but not really the same vibe.

Yeah, it's a 'want' not a 'need' kind of thing. The materials and finish are pretty top-tier, like something Singer would use. If you want that level of detail, it's worth it.

I'm in California, how long does shipping usually take for a custom engraved key? Trying to get it for my dad's birthday next month.

L Laura White 2 weeks ago
Custom engraving adds a bit. I think mine took about a week to process before it even shipped, then regular ground shipping to CA was like 3-5 business days. So give it some time.

My engraved one got to me in about 1.5-2 weeks total. They're not Amazon fast with the custom stuff.
